Confirmation is an important and final step to complete your initiation into the Catholic Church. Confirmation completes what was started in your baptism and gives you the fullness of the Holy Spirit!
Class schedule for Adult Confirmation?
Classes for Adult Confirmation for fall 2026 are TBD (updated 5/10/26).
Are baptized Catholic and have received First Communion.
Are active and participating members of their parishes and highly motivated to celebrate the sacraments.
Are aware of the major doctrines and practices of the Catholic faith and are committed to living after the manner of Jesus.
Adult Catholics who have been baptized Catholic but have NOT received their First Communion should participate in the Becoming Catholic process (OCIA).
Adult Catholics who have been away from the Church for many years and are coming back should participate in the Becoming Catholic process (OCIA).
The following are possible indicators of a person’s readiness for Confirmation:
A sense that the candidate is sufficiently formed in the Gospel message, Catholic belief and practice, and with how to live as a Christian in today’s world
Commitment to living the rest of one’s life as a follower of Jesus in the Catholic community
Regular participation in the Church’s worship, pastoral and sacramental life
Willingness to share one’s time and talent in parish-related ministry or ministry to the world
It is not required to be confirmed before marriage in the Church. If, however, a person can be adequately prepared to celebrate Confirmation before his/her marriage, they should be confirmed. Canon 1065 states: “If they can do so without serious inconvenience, Catholics who have not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation are to receive it before being admitted to the Sacrament of Marriage.”
If adequate preparation for Confirmation is not possible and/or there are other prohibiting factors, the marriage should be celebrated and, as soon as possible after the wedding, the person should continue preparation to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Sponsors must comply with the following qualifications:
Be a Catholic in good standing
Be at least 16 years old
Be a confirmed Catholic who has received the Sacrament of Eucharist and leads a life in harmony with the faith and the role to be undertaken
Not be the father or mother of the one confirmed
Sponsors should serve as role models and mentors, helping the candidates to respond to God’s call and live the Christian life in the faith community and the world.
